Loani Arman is an emerging writer and director whose films put women firmly in the centre of the story. In 2019, Loani w…on the AACTA Pitch Forever Unexpected competition and went on to make her short film, OUR GREATEST ESCAPE. Later that year, she was selected for the Screen Queensland Charlie’s Lab in Los Angeles where she was mentored by Cindy Chupack (SEX AND THE CITY) to develop a half hour TV pilot. In 2018, Loani was the director’s attachment on THE END, and that same year, wrote and directed the comedy pilot, THE MOTHER LOAD. Funded by Screen Queensland, it went on to win Best Pilot at WebFest Berlin and was nominated for Best TV Pilot at the Pilot Light TV Festival in the UK. In 2017, Loani produced and co-directed web documentary, MY BODY SAYS, funded through Screen Australia and WHIMN’s Doco180 initiative. Earlier in her career, Loani was the Drama Associate at Showtime Australia where she worked closely with esteemed Executive Producer, Kim Vecera, on TANGLE and CLOUDSTREET.
Dylan River is a filmmaker from Alice Springs, Australia. In 2013 his debut documentary BUCKSKIN won the Foxtel Document…ary Prize at the 60th annual Sydney Film Festival. His first short film NULLA NULLA was selected for the Berlin and Toronto Film Festivals, and won the 2015 AACTA Award for Best Short Film. In 2017 he worked as second unit director and cinematographer on SWEET COUNTRY, which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, picking up the Special Jury Prize. In 2018 Dylan completed his second documentary FINKE: THERE AND BACK, narrated by Eric Bana. His most recent project ROBBIE HOOD – a 6 x 10min series for SBS, which retells the famous folktale set in Dylan’s home town of Alice Springs – won the 2019 AACTA Award for Best Online Drama or Comedy. Last year Dylan worked as cinematographer for SBS/NITV’s 6 x half hour series THE BEACH, followed by MYSTERY ROAD SEASON 2 for ABC.
Natalie Erika James is a Japanese-Australian writer/director based in Melbourne, Australia. Her debut feature, RELIC, is… a psychological horror starring Emily Mortimer, Bella Heathcote and Robyn Nevin, produced by Carver Films and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories, and executive produced by the Russo Brothers’ Agbo Films. RELIC premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival before being released by IFC Midnight in the US and on streaming platform Stan in Australia.
Daniel Lammin is a Melbourne-based theatre maker, writer for the film website SWITCH (maketheswitch.com.au) and host of …the Disney history podcast INK & PAINT: A JOURNEY THROUGH DISNEY ANIMATED CLASSICS. He is a graduate of Directing at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), and was nominated for a Green Room award in 2014 for MASTER CLASS (Left Bauer Productions). His other directing credits include AWAKENING (MUST/fortyfivedownstairs), STRANGERS IN BETWEEN (Cameron Lukey/Don’t Be Down Productions) and SNEAKYVILLE (Before Shot). He is currently the Producer & Programmer for the Centre for Theatre and Performance at Monash University.
